Can You Make Good Money from Hubpages?
In the last approximately 4 weeks Courtney Tuttle has been running a test over at The Keyword Academy where he sat out to create 100 keyword targeted Hubpages in order to see what kind of income they could generate.
Personally I find that 100 Hubpages in 30 days is a pretty big chunk of work to add to whatever else you’re already doing but I assume that Court has someone else to run his daily business or had some help creating the articles. Either way the project created a lot of buzz in the MMO society and several other people tried to copy what he was doing.
After the first three weeks Court had created the 100 hubs and was already making a decent income from it compared to the average online MMO newbie. We’re talking THREE WEEKS guys and girls! There is no question that Courtney knows how to find some great keywords that have decent traffic, the right CPC as well as low enough competition to be able to get high ranking by using the authority of Hubpages.
Would he have been able to do this with a brand new site instead? I’m sure he would be but it would probably have taken him more than three weeks to see the same amount of traffic come in. However he would have been able to keep 100% of the profits instead of having to split the profits with the Hub team.
Still I find this example valuable to anyone that wants to make more money online. Court have shown that he knows how to create an online business that are able to generate AT LEAST $500 in its second month and who wouldn’t want to have an extra $500 in your Adsense account when we hit August 1st?
If you want to see the stats for the fourth week you can find it here at: make $500 or more a month with hubpages
They (Court and Mark) also offer a $1 subscription (for the first 30 days) to their program called the Crash Course and after the first 30 days it is at either $29 or $33 per month. The link is not an affiliate link and I haven’t signed up for their course (yet). This is not because I don’t trust them (because I do and have bought several of their products and they are AWESOME) but I merely don’t have the time right now to put into it.
If you’re looking for someone to help you find some low hanging fruit keywords I would definitely recommend Court and Mark at The Keyword Academy.
To Your Success,
Mikael

I guess I failed in making 100 hubs in 30 days but I succeeded in making my first $100 from my hubs (57 of them…to be exact) in less than 30 days which would have otherwise not been possible if I didn’t join the fun.
It was a good experience thus far and I’ll hope to continue to write more hubs long after the challenge.

Yahoo rankings does all the work for me. Hopefully when the aging factor kicks in, they’ll translate into more clicks.
Reading your comment on TKA, I’m with you on writing contents that encourages people to click, ethical or otherwise.
Sometimes the crappiest content has a better CTR than a well-written one.
I think there should be a balance between the two.

And that is a very good point to bring up Yan. We all have to act to get anywhere and if you could add $100 per month to your income from making these 57 hubpages then you’re still making more money than most MMO’ers just because of this 4 week effort.
Congratulations!

I can see the point from both sides but unless anyone has some hard proof (which they don’t) I find that the best way to go ahead is what works well for you right now. Personally I never produce crap but I’m not going to win the Pulitzer Prize either
Did you read the last comment on TKA from “Bubs” before it got deleted? That was really funny
I’m not going to reference it here since C or M probably had their reasons for deleting it but it kinda made me smile

Mikael, couple of questions.
1. I read if your hubscore drops below 75 a no follow clause kicks in and kills you seo rankings?
2. At the bottom of a hub you have share options such as digg, etc..are these communities receptive to the hub system?
Thanks….

Hey Ric,
great questions. It is true that if your hubscore gets below 75 any links in your articles will be nofollowed (you don’t NEED to have links in your hubpages). As for there to be a connection between your hubscore/nofollowed links and any SE ranking that is totally bogus (where did you read that??).
I would imaging that Digg. etc could be receptive to hubpages as well but that it has nothing to do with it being a hubpage but rather what the content is. The medium at which the content is posted won’t matter.

Mikael, here is the link to the hubber that I came across stating his reasons for the 75 and under score information.

Hi Ric, I don’t see the article saying anything about hurting your SE ranking.
It is true that the links will be nofollowed if your score drops to below 75 and if hubpages are your ONLY link building efforts, then yes it might affect your ranking.
However if that is the case you are bigger problems with the way you linkbuild than with what your hubscore is
Hubpage can be ONE way to get links but it definitely should NOT be the only way.

Yea, I did check out that post from Keyword Academy. Those guys are really putting work into it. I also checked one of the pages made by Courtney and it was quality content!

I’m amazed with Court, that’s a lot of hard work. I heard a lot about Keyword Academy especially from Griz. Anyway I agree with you Michael, Hubpages is a good source of links but it is not the only source. I think maintaining a hubscore of 75 is not too hard.

I’ve just started using Hubpages, I find it is nice to just publish articles casually. The stories of success behind 30 hubs in 30 days and similar challenges are quite inspirational, I have to say!
