If you’re looking to buy a website or a link on a website how can you be sure to detect a faked pagerank?
Since a site’s PR will have a great impact on the price that the seller can charge there are people that create false pageranks for their sites in order to artificially drive up the selling price.
Being on the other end of the trade you should always check whether the reported PR is real or faked.

Last week I wrote a few blog posts about the importance of working on getting incoming links to your new website and one of the best ways that I have found to do this if you are just starting out online is to go with the article marketing approach as you can start off slowly and still get visitors directly from the article directories even before your site starts to rank in the search engines.

I just want to brush up on my article about using articles for better search engine ranking where I talked about the backlinks not being the only advantage of using article marketing as a tool for better search engine placement.
Providing quality content is definitely one of the best ways to get visitors to the article database to click the links in your article and come visit your site. But quality content is not enough. What you need is to write content that:
Seems to give the solution to a problem that the reader has, but doesn’t

If you read my post yesterday you will find that I see article marketing as a very important first step to start achieving higher search engine rankings. I especially find it to be an effective way when you are just starting out with your first website but also if you have been building several websites. Article marketing will help you get your site indexed fairly quickly and it will also start providing you with visitors almost instantly.

Yesterday I talked about the basics of getting better ranking with incoming links and I said that I found that internal linking wasn’t as important as the incoming links. Some of my readers feel strongly about internal links and I would just like to point out that I AM NOT saying that internal linking isn’t beneficial to a site.
What I AM saying is that internal linking is “just” a way to pass “link strength” around to benefit more pages on a site. Internal linking DOES NOT create additional strength to a site as a whole but INCOMING LINKS DOES. If you do not have any incoming links you will not have any link strength to pass around and therefore you will NOT benefit from any internal linking efforts you might do.

Just like I told you yesterday there are two things that are required to improve your search engine ranking. The first (and most important) thing is to get links to your website and the second thing you will want is a plan for doing it. Linkbuilding is an ongoing process and it is not something that you will want to rush because it will most likely backfire on you.
Getting links to a brand new website will have to look natural to the search engines and that is why I tell you to not try to rush things.
