I have been writing articles for ezine, goarticles, and a few others for about six months now. The ones on ezine (who I have written the most for) perform the best, with an average of 2.4%. I know that sounds low but a lot of my earlier articles performed atrociously, with a click rate less than 1% in some cases, despite getting several hundred views in a few months.

My more recent articles have performed better - highest click through being 13.2%, for an article with 144 views. Personally I think the resource box matters a lot, as I put little thought into it with my earlier articles, but tailored it more to reader interest with later ones. I also think shorter articles (400 words or so) are more likely to have higher CTR - a thousand word article would have to be particularly compelling to hold a reader's attention all the way to the resource box.

I have been writing articles for about 3 months now and my average CTR is around 5%. Some of my article gets 40% CTR while other struggle to get 1%. I thinks it is very important to tweek and test you resource box when writing articles.

I recently started to write laser-targerted articles and the results are more than amazing.

Hi Nick, it is a combination of several thing. First of all you will need to write an article that people will want to read from start to finish. If the stop half way down they'll never get to the author box.

Secondly you will need to craft the article so that people will want to have learned something from reading the article but so that they will still want to know more about the topic.

Finally you must word the author box in a way so that people are enticed to click through. Call it a soft ad if you like and then it is important to ask for the click (naturally).

e-zine is the article directory i have the most trouble with for getting people to follow the resource box. I would say I get about 2-4% which is way under the number of 45%+ you were saying people should get. What kind of tips do you have for improving these rates?
