How To Get The Necessary Done Consistently

By Mikael | 1,625 views

Consistency Is The KeyIf you have been running an online business of some sort for any period of time you probably have a very good idea of what is required in order to become as successful as you would like to become. This applies to both Adsense sites, affiliate sites, ecommerce sites and every other way that you, as a webmaster, can make money online.

The things that you will have to do might differ, but there is still a very narrow set of things that you must do on a consistent basis.

Adsense Sites Example

Because I focus on Adsense as an income stream let me take you through the basic things that will lead you to success in this field.

1. Find good keywords
2. Write good articles for the website
3. Get incoming links (requires both time and more article writing)

That is it! Sounds simple right? The fact is that it is simple but not necessarily easy to do. The problem is hardly ever the things you need to do but the fact that you need to do them over and over and over and over…. And you need to keep doing it for a very long time.

So if that is the problem, then how do you solve it?

Most people starting out trying to make money with Adsense will start massively but quickly slow down when results are not showing. This is very understandable but the problem is that they are often telling themselves that they’re doing something wrong and they can’t see that it is the “stopping” that is the problem.

But if we can all agree that all we have to do is keep doing these three things over and over again, then all we need is to solve the consistency problem.

One solution is that you do it yourself. But by simply looking around we can see that this isn’t working. So if you aren’t able / willing to do it, then you will find another way to get it done. This means that someone else will have to do it for you.

I quickly learned that writing a ton of articles every single day for a long period of time were not for me. Not only did I find it extremely boring but I also quickly found other things that I HAD to do which, as a result, made me unable to do the articles. :) The end result was that the business stopped growing or even declined.

Unfortunately the same problem applies to linkbuilding in my case. So basically there are two out of three things that I hate doing but without these two there will be no business. Sitting around finding great niches and keywords will not make a successful business.

Get Help

My solution was that I needed to find someone that could help me do the part of the three things that I wouldn’t want to do myself. What you like doing and what you hate doing will be individual but luckily you can find someone that will do all three things for you. I’m talking about outsourcing.

Some will likely argue that outsourcing tasks will cost you money and that is very true. It will, but not necessarily as much as you think.

What you need to ask yourself is whether or not you will be doing the three things (and I do mean ALL three) every single day. If you can’t honestly say yes to this then you need an alternative solution. The business simply will not work without one or more of the components.

What I did in the beginning was to accept doing the things I hate doing for a small period of time. As soon as I had built a small business that would generate a little income I quickly invested that income into having other people doing what I hated.

That is why I have now hired a fulltime article writer and a fulltime linkbuilder. Simply because I know that the work has to be done every day but I don’t want to do it. I am actually looking for another article writer as we speak and I can’t wait to get him/her onboard. ;)

The results of making a decision to have other people doing the work for me have been huge. My business has never grown this much in such a short time and the reason is simply that now everything gets done on a daily basis (which it didn’t when I was doing it).

So I encourage you to think hard and long about what it is that is stopping you. I’ll bet that it is not a matter of you not having the required knowledge but rather that you’re not getting as much done on a consistent basis as you should in order to get the results that you want.

Am I right? ;)

To Your Success,
Mikael

Interesting. An outsourced link builder. How do they find the links – is it simply a case of continually emailing webmasters and requesting links?

Also you say that most people start out with adsense massively but slow down. Do you mean they start out with massive enthusiasm or massive ideas/projects? I think I’m probably guilty of both and at times have lost heart when I haven’t seen results.

But ONCE AGAIN Mikael, thanks to your article I am going to go and research some keywords and write an article today :)

Hi Matt,

As for linkbuilding this can vary depending on what you want them to do. They can do anything from writing and submitting articles to article directories, write guest posts, blog commenting, create profile pages, create videos and submit those etc. etc. etc.

It is only a matter of what you want them to do and then naturally to find someone that is able to do just that (or who is teachable).

As for starting out massively then yes, I was referring to the enthusiasm that will normally last a week or two. If you have the enthusiasm you’ll get the job done. When it fades away you stop doing what you MUST do to make it work.

I think it is a normal thing and because of this I find outsourcing to be a great solution to the problem.

I think the biggest point you make here is the necessity of working on all the aspects of your website every day. Many people who are just starting out do not see the necessity of this, but it is really a make or break idea.

The truth is that running a website either requires that you write a lot of content, that you buy content or hire a writer, or mix the two. This is because you need to use articles for your site, articles to submit to ezines to promote your site and articles to help you build backlinks.

How do you manage to find good people to outsource some of this to? My experience has always been that such things attract the shadier side of the Internet.

On the other hand, I think if you pick a good topic, you are able to sustain the enthusiasm at least a little longer than a week, but this also greatly depends on your interest in writing and link building.

Hi Shae, finding good writers is definitely not an easy task and I have used several that were no good. It is a process where you try out a lot of different writers and when you find someone that fits your need you’ll just have to hold on to them.

Hi Mikael,

This is a good idea to outsource somebody doing the work for you. It really takes a lot of time doing things by yourself.

I think finding link builders is easier than finding article writers.

I think I will also invest my income in outsourcing. This is a smart way I think.

The trouble with outsourcing is finding the right person. As they represent you on other sites they need to be consistent with what your views are. Article writers are easier to monitor, and while link builders can be monitored as well, that takes considerable time and effort. So it might just be worth while doing it on your own.

Hi Candy,

I will partially agree with you. I think it is a matter of what you will have the write do for you. You will naturally want the writer to do a good job but for many online businesses it will not be linked to you as a person and if the writer does a poor job it will not affect you in any way (except that you’ve wasted money).

As for linkbuilders I believe it is only a matter of having proper systems in place. My linkbuilder gives me a very detailed daily report and that works great. I’m never in doubt about what he has done or why.

I know that opinions differ but my strong belief is that your life is too short for you to do things that you don’t like doing and especially if you have have others do it and still make money from it.

The problem is all to do with cost. If you were to hire two people to work for you doing these tasks full time you would be looking at a wage bill of at least $60,000 per year. Unless their efforts is bringing a whole lot of traffic I can’t see you covering your costs.

Perhaps this could be utilized once your sites were already bringing in enough cash so that you could finally take a load off.

Hi Sire, that very much depends on where you hire people. You can hire VERY talented people in places like the Philippines for as little as $200 per month, full time!

So that makes it very much worth it :)

Hi Mikael,

I completely agree that outsourcing is the way to go as the leverage from it can be so powerful.

Wow, you can find full-time talented people for only $200 per month? How do I go about finding such people?! So far I’ve just been using sites like ccarticles.com to get articles written for me.

Geoff

@Geoff, try to search for a guy named John Jonas. He has a blog that will tell you a lot more about hiring abroad.

Thanks Mikael, I`ll check that out, that name rings a bell.

Finding an article writer is one thing but as for hiring a link builder or a person who can construct your sites, do you ever get concerned that after they begin to understand your methods of site building and promotion they may quit and just do it themselves? I mean a basic niche site can easily make $200 per month, and that is their entire salary! :)

Geoff

Hi Geoff, I’ll be honest and say that I have naturally thought about it but then again, what is the worst that can happen? They’ll leave you.

The fact is (which is also what John Jonas has experienced), that most people are not entrepreneurs and would rather work for a paycheck than try to make a living on their own (even if they know how). All we have to do it look around and maybe even to some extend look at ourselves (if we have jobs).

A good place to find outsourcers at the right price is the Warrior Forum, tons of people their offering every service you could need, and you can check what people say about them.

Hi Chris,

I agree that there is definitely a huge selection of people offering a lot of services. However I have found that WF is definitely not the cheapest place to look for people to hire. The “problem” with WF is that most of these people are Internet savvy and will therefore price their services higher than people who are not as savvy.

But as least you can use WF to get going and start outsourcing. Once you get going you can always look for cheaper options.

I had never considered outsourcing link building before. I suppose that proper training is key. After all, their activities will be reflecting back onto the website you are promoting.

As far as the $200 per month, that is certainly cheap enough if the site is generating any kind of revenue. And it should snowball when the links start paying off with higher rankings.

This has been a very profitable read. Thanks

Outsourcing for me is the best way to keep businesses alive despite of the big competitors coming all over because this can always let the projects live by the help of resources or the trained staff to take over the projects and provide the automation in the long run.

Also, this has been one of my inspirations which I also got from http://www.massoutsource.com where I found free videos which tells about the easy ways on how to outsource your business and find better staff on your behalf. This Australian guy is helping every entrepreneur to build their businesses in an easy and strategic way.

Hi Luwesowen,

I have to admit that I haven’t tried out Tyrone’s product but I’ll definitely have a look at it when I have some extra time.
