Remove Unwanted Analytics Account Profiles You Are Not Managing
Whenever you are looking to purchase a website or you are looking into Google Analytics stats on someone else’s site, you are added to their Analytics account as a User. There are two types of users and when you only need to look into another person’s account you’ll normally be added to “view reports only” as opposed to “administrator”.
One problem is that when you are not the administrator you can’t remove that account profile until the administrator deletes you.
Sometimes it happens that you don’t really know the administrator (especially when you are looking to purchase a site) and if that is something you do often you can quickly find that you have a lot of useless profiles in your Analytics dashboard.
Unfortunately there is (at time of writing) only one way to delete such accounts and that is by writing to the Analytics support team.
This is done by the form you find on this page: Contact Google Analytics
Ask them to delete the GA profile that you would no longer want to use.
If you are the administrator, then you can easily delete your own accounts. For more information about how to do that check this post:

I hope this will help you out,
Mikael

I have never asked to get an account to make sure the stats was real. Maybe because I buy very low end sites and bring up the traffic and resell within the first week or month.
I will keep this in mind once I start buying mid or high end sites.

That makes sense Deneil. I’ve primarily used it if I needed more information than what was already provided. Having free access makes everything a lot simpler.

Yeah, I need to start back flipping websites. Pretty quick cash but since things been bad money wise. People aren’t buying websites as much like before.
P.S. I just want to say thank you. Finally somebody spells my name right. People see my name on a daily basis and still spell it wrong.

I’ve never had to ask for an analytics account before, I had no idea that they would show up on your dash if the administrator doesn’t delete them. There definitely should be an option to delete your own account, whatever it may be. Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Josiah, asking for access to an analytics account is a personal choice. If I am going to spend a few thousand dollars on a site I want to know what it is that I am buying.
When you get access you’ll be able to see everything and if you can get the administrator to delete your access after you have seen what you need then you will not have to contact Google.

I didn’t know that you couldn’t remove that account profile until the administrator deletes you! I agree that they should be some kind of option that you could delete your own account, but it is helpful for people to be able to have access to analytics.

I agree with what Deneil said. For the most part, I’ve only seen those with very high end sites be asked for their Google Analytic Stats.
By the way Mikael, I do not use Google Analytics. Is it something you think every blogger should use?

I didn’t know it before that I can contact Google Analytics to delete a GA profile. Useful info.
