Matt, following the steps outlined in the KWA that I mentioned in my latest post will be my best advice. It is simple to follow and easy to understand but the most important thing is that it is PROVEN to work.

Mikael,
Is there a way you’d recommend getting the keyword research? I mean, how does one actually go about identifying the perfect keywords? It’s one of the points that “I realise is important, but kind of put to the back because I’m not entirely sure how to do it”.

EDIT – Ignore this Mikael, I’ve just spotted your adsense keyword research post. I’ll read that and perhaps search more thoroughly before posting next time

Personally, I’d say the 2nd step is the most important. I’ve seen many people just find a “top adsense keywords list”, take one of the keywords from the top of the list, slap it onto their blog with some Adsense ads, and expect to make money. Those keywords are very, very hard to rank for. Impossible might be a better word.

Thus, researching keywords before you jump in is very important. Great post Mikael!

Hi Ric, well a few links from the major social sites will definitely not harm you but I would want to spend too much time on it if I were you.

As for links from the same IP that is true. However you must remember that EzineArticles will also send you high quality traffic directly + people can take your article from EA and put it on their own sites and in return provide you with more links from different IPs.

Mikael, I’m just delving into linking. I know the traffic from digg and stumble are not good for adsense sites, but is it worth to post there for the link? Also, I read multiple links from same IP count as one, such as writing articles for ezinearticle.

You’re right Max that cheap doesn’t have to mean “bad” and you can also always argue what “cheap” is.

All I am saying it that you will need to do proper due diligence before settling on one.

My hosting is pretty cheap, yet I have no problems what so ever. Cheap hosting doesn’t mean bad hosting if you can find a company with good support and service. I switched hosting providers two or three times before I settled on one, and I’ve been with them for two years or so.

I absolutely agree with you – it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that following a few steps CONSISTENTLY does produce results and steps above is exactly what many need.
