Structure, Systems and Success – A Winning Combination

By Mikael | 479 views

I’ve never been good at writing compelling headlines so please don’t judge this post solely on the headline :)

What I want to talk to you about in the post is why I find that success is best achieved through using structure and systems. We’re not going to talk about what “success” is because we have talked about this topic several times and success is indeed individual and based more on a feeling that on materials goods.

But this post will talk about financial success and business success and in those two areas I find that having a plan, a structure and systems will help you move forward a lot faster and help you avoid creating yourself just another job but instead creating some time freedom and financial freedom in the process.

What Is Structure?

When we talk about “structure” it is a matter of having something laid out either on paper or in some other visual form. Few people will probably be able to have everything in their head but for most that is not the case and too many things are dropped on the floor if you try to avoid writing it down.

Besides this, not having it written in a clear and easy to understand way greatly reduces your chances of achieving the time freedom that you would want.

Making your plan visible will not only help you from forgetting what you had in mind but it will also help you see where you plan and idea might be missing some vital areas. Some people will create flow charts, others will create mind maps and some will do both (as they are not substitutes) but how you go about making it visual is really not that important. Doing it is what counts!

Why You Need Systems

Now that you have your visual structure in place it will be a lot easier to create systems and processes that will help you do everything as efficient as possible. But that is really only a small part of it and especially if you want time freedom. Having thing be efficient will naturally help you save time, reduce costs and therefore increase profits and all of these are important to have financial and business success.

The real benefit of having systems in place that are explained in visual processes that other people can understand is that you can have other people do the work for you. Unless you are able to let other people do the work for you, you have only created another JOB for yourself.

By paying other people for their time (with money) you have given yourself the ultimate gift… time! Naturally this will only work as long as your structures, processes and systems will produce more profits than you’re paying other people for their time but that is probably not a surprise.

Do You Have Structure and Systems In Place?

Now I am not pointing any fingers here because until a few years ago I didn’t really get that clearly defined processes and systems were important in order to become rich and have a lot of free time. I could only see that if I did this and this I would make more money. The problem was that “I” was always in the sentence.

Ever since something or someone (can’t remember what it was) opened my eyes I had never thought of designing and implementing systems and processes from the beginning.

You don’t want to wait until you’re swamped with work and don’t have the time to get it all down on paper. Start now while you have the time and you will be saving a ton of time in the end.

To Your Success,
Mikael

When you approach a problem, it is up to you whether you begin to solve that problem or become flustered and fail. Using a structured approach, you can solve most problems more efficiently and be more successful in whatever you do. Most of my first attempts at websites failed because I did not take a structured approach to what my goals were. Instead, I would just randomly do things and that never worked out. Instead, I now remain organized when I approach my work and I find that I have never been more successful. Listen to this guy, he knows what he is talking about.

Hi Mikael,

Most people think being rich means you have a lot of money, but they forget about the free time. You may be rich but have no free time.
What I understand as being rich is when you have the money and you have the free time to enjoy life.

And here comes the system and structure in place where in fact you plan how to use your time.

Hi Ion,

Being successful and being rich can definitely be debated because it is unique to the individual. Even “free time” can be debated because if you work 16 hours a day doing what you love you can still call it “free time” as it is your hobby and passion.

To me being rich means that I can do what ever I want without having to worry about making money from it to pay the bills. That I have a passion for making money is another matter :D

Free time is definitely a good subject to debate as many people understand it differently.

Structure and system helps me win time. I also love spending time doing things online, but I would call my free time the time which is left after I finished everything what is on my schedule plan. Until I have tasks to do, I would call it “working time” :)

Great information. I have my stuff in my head. I have yet to write it down though. Maybe that will give me the boost I need to move forward a little faster.

Hi Deneil,

I’m sure you’ll benefit greatly from mapping it out and getting it onto paper.
