Using a Translator with Adsense is a Bad Idea

By Mikael | 1,439 views

In my recent post explaining why you shouldn’t use the Global Translator plugin with Adsense I talked about the fact that you might see an increase in traffic because you are literally translating your entire site into multiple languages (most of the translation is hardly readable though) you are also most likely going to see a drop in your Adsense income and if you are really unfortunate it might be a serious drop.

So when I came across another site trying to see you on the idea of translating your website into 34 languages in order to make more money with Adsense I felt that I had to warn you about it. The site is called Websitestranslator.com and the guy behind it seems to have developed this script on his own before the Google Translation tool came out or at least it seems that the site hasn’t been updated since 2006. I have no idea if he is still making any sales of this product but since I found the site I am sure that others will find it as well.

On his page he talks about people making money with Adsense and that increased traffic can also increase Adsense earnings. That is absolutely true but only if it is good traffic that will convert for the advertisers. If it is poor traffic then Google will pay you a lot less per click and since you are sending poor traffic to their advertisers they’ll most likely also cut a piece off your otherwise “normal” earnings from the original site that isn’t translated.

Making money with Adsense can be a great source of income for you but you have to know what you are doing. Besides optimizing the ads for best performance you are much better off spending your money, time and energy on getting more unique and optimized content on your site while also getting more incoming links to the site so that you will get that extra GOOD traffic that in return will increase your Adsense income.
