Using Article Marketing to Get Better Ranking

If you read my post yesterday you will find that I see article marketing as a very important first step to start achieving higher search engine rankings. I especially find it to be an effective way when you are just starting out with your first website but also if you have been building several websites. Article marketing will help you get your site indexed fairly quickly and it will also start providing you with visitors almost instantly.

My personal favorite article directory is EzineArticles.com. It is one of the largest article databases online and you will often find that the articles on EA ranks highly for many good keywords. This means that EA gets a lot of traffic and that you will be able to get part of that traffic when people find your articles.

But even though it will bring you visitors it will also provide you with a valuable link to your website that will both help the site get indexed as well as starting to rank higher in the search engines for the keywords you have chosen to target with your links in the articles.

But that is not all the benefits article marketing has

Besides getting the link and traffic from the article directory you will also find that other websites come to the article directories and borrow your articles (you agree to this when you submit the articles). The borrowing sites are required to keep your links to your site which means that the more sites that borrows your article the more links you are potentially going to get to your site.

What this means is that submitting one article can actually give you 10, 50 or 100 links back to your website. There are a lot of factors that go into how many webmasters will actually want to syndicate your content (borrow your articles) but two of them are that:

1. You provide great content that will benefit their readers
2. You write an article in a competitive niche that gets lots of traffic and have lots of webmasters targeting it

You will find that some webmasters will pick up your article manually but most of the sites using your content will be automated sites that will use it for various reasons. You don’t need to worry about that though. Just remember that the more sites are using your article and giving links back to your site the better.

Oh… just a warning. You will find that some sites will “forget” to provide you with the backlink. Don’t worry about it and don’t spend any time on it. Be happy for the ones that play by the rules and forget the rest. It WILL happen and it is simply not worth the effort to do anything about the ones that play unfair.

An additional benefit of the syndicated content

An additional benefit of using article marketing to get better rankings is that besides all the links you will also be getting traffic from the sites that use your articles. You can’t expect to get much traffic from the automated sites I mentioned above but you will get some and all traffic is of a decent quality and especially if you write good articles.

The great thing about these articles is that once people come to your site they have already read something that you have written and that means that they “know you” a little better. The seemingly insignificant “connection” has proven to have a huge impact in the conversion of these people. They are reported to be 5-10 times as likely to buy what you would want to sell them. It is called “pre-qualified” traffic and besides the traffic that comes from people that already have bought from you before it is some of the best traffic that you can get to your website.

So please don’t discount article marketing in your effort to get better search engine rankings. It is not just the benefits of the links that make it an extremely powerful way to market your website.
