Hey, I try to submit different articles to different directories. I also spin my articles to avoid duplication - how necessary this is I dont know. One thing I do know is that by submitting 10 or so article to Ezine Articles, you can dramatically boost your search engine results. Ive seen it time and time again.

Usually what I do is rewrite one of the paragraphs each time I submit to a different article. Than I take the article I just changed on paragraph on and put that on a new directory and rewrite another paragraph.

I continue on like that rewriting a new paragraph each time, so everything is slightly different. It seems to have panned out well for me.

Hi Loki,

The name is Mikael ;) and welcome to the blog.

I fully agree with you that using some sort of spinner is even better but that is not the point here. The point is that people are afraid of submitting the same article to multiple places because they have heard something about duplicate content issues and all I am saying is that they shouldn't be.

If they only have this one article then they should still submit it several places as it WILL benefit them more.

Sorry guy...but for an extra hour or so work with a good spinner you will have loads of backlinks which is the entire point of writing articles in the first place isn't it..? To take all that time writing a good article and then just send it to a dozen directories unchanged makes no sense at all. You are right though about the fact that duplicate content issues people are always talking about means the content on your own site.

@Ravi, first of all duplicate content will not get you "penalized" but it will merely leave that page out of the search engine index.

The reason (I believe) that the larger sites will still have the context indexed is that they are authority sites. If the site with the article has enough authority is have to be good content (in the SE's point of view).

You'll see the same thing when big news websites use articles from Reuters etc.

I can't give you an explanation that is better because only the search engines know what they're doing but to be quite honest I don't really care because all that matters is that one or more articles gets indexed and provides a backlink.

Hi Mikael,

This is perhaps the best reason why we can use same articles on multiple directories. I have been working some time on the internet but this fact never occurred to me. BUT, I wonder why the article directories don't get penalized by having same articles. Don't they get penalized for that?
Like if Ezine and Articlebase had same articles, Why don't they get penalized?

I really want to know this, if you can help me understand this, please do.

Thanks again

This is a good explanation.

I think the best way to approach it is to submit your article to the highest page rank directory first, then wait a few days before submitting to others.

As you say, Google may index all of them, but it's no tragedy if it doesn't. The more directories your article is at, the more people will read it. And a certain percentage of them will click through to your site.

One submission (or hopefully more) is for SEO. The remainder are just for clicks.

@Mark, I have sites made up of only reused content that makes me hundreds of dollars a month. It is just a matter of doing it right :) So no I'm not afraid of duplicate content.

Hi Renee and welcome to the blog. Surely unique content will have a higher rate of indexing but it will also require more time and effort on your part. And it is not necessary to do because you'll still get both links and visitors for identical articles.

As for the acceptance I have a ton of proof that even the largest of the article directories really don't care about you submitting the same articles to multiple directories. They'll still get accepted. The only "issue" I have ever had was that EA didn't like that I used different pen names for the same article across different directories. Once I changed that the article was instantly accepted.

So yes you can change articles but you don't need to and even with identical articles you can still have them accepted across most article directories. So anyone trying to tell you something different is lying to you ;)
